CONSULTATION AND GOVERNANCE IN PARISH LIFE Descriptors are some of the common ways in which Consultation and Governance is evident in a parish setting. Place a check mark in the box of those descriptors that are currently happening in your parish in the area of Consultation and Governance.1. Our pastor, parish staff, and pastoral council according to their appropriate roles share responsibility for visioning, planning, empowering, and evaluating. 2. The pastoral concerns of our parish are assessed, evaluated, and responded to by the parish pastoral council in collaboration with the pastor and parish staff. 3. Decisions are made by consensus after a process of discernment, study, and discussion. 4. Ongoing formation and training of parish leaders is provided for and formed by diocesan, national and Universal Church teachings. 5. Parish leaders delegate responsibility for implementing pastoral activities to competent persons, offering them support, resources, and regular oversight. 6. Parish personnel are recruited and remunerated according to professional standards and formal job descriptions. 7. Willingness to share staff with other parishes is considered a viable means of ensuring competency in ministerial leadership. 8. Members of the finance council are persons with interest and experience in budgeting, facilities management, and fundraising and development efforts.
